Terms and Conditions of THE RUN SLOVAKIA — use of the website and app, registration and payment

§ 1. Who provides the services

1. The website therun.sk (the “website”) and the The Run Slovakia app, available at app.therun.sk, in the App Store and on Google Play (the “app”), are operated by the civic association therun.sk, o.z., Páričkova 1099/24, 821 08 Bratislava, Slovakia, company ID (IČO) 52130398, e-mail: [email protected], phone: +421 903 560 460 (the “organiser”).

2. The organiser holds the THE RUN SLOVAKIA 2027 relay race on 11–13 June 2027 from Bratislava to Košice (48 legs, 534 km) (the “event”). The organiser is the participant’s contracting party and receives the payments.

3. The sporting rules of the event — categories, course, safety, time limits, penalties — are set out in the race information published at therun.sk/en/race-info (the “race rules”). The race rules form part of the contract.

§ 2. Definitions

• Captain — the person who creates a team in the app, enters into the contract with the organiser in their own name and pays the entry fees for the team members.
• Participant — every team member entered in the app, including the captain (if running).
• Entry fee — the fee for one participant’s place in the event.
• Consumer — a natural person who registers for a purpose outside their trade, business or profession.

§ 3. Services provided electronically

1. Through the website and the app the organiser lets you: view information about the event; create and keep an account; register a team and its participants; pay the entry fees and extra services; manage the team’s line-up and the split of legs; follow the relay and the results during the event; sign up for the newsletter.

2. Technical requirements: a device with internet access, an up-to-date browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled, an active e-mail address; during the event, an iOS or Android smartphone with the The Run Slovakia app and internet access (the race rules make its use mandatory for the captain during the event).

3. You must not post unlawful content, enter other people’s data without authority, or act in a way that disrupts the website or the app.

4. The account contract starts when you create an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by writing to [email protected]. The app does not allow deletion while your team is on the course, or when deleting would dissolve a team with a paid order — in that case, contact us. Deleting your account is not a withdrawal from the event and gives no right to a refund of the entry fee.

§ 4. Team registration and the contract

1. Registration runs from 1 October 2026 (18:00) to 30 April 2027 (23:59), or until the limit of 100 teams is reached.

2. The captain registers the team in the app: creates an account, chooses a category — MARATHON (12 runners, mixed team), FREESTYLE (7 to 16 runners, mixed team) or LADIES FREESTYLE (7 to 16 runners, women only, a non-running captain included) —, enters the team name and details, accepts these terms and the race rules, and pays the entry fees.

3. The contract for the event is concluded when the entry fees under § 5(3) are credited to the organiser’s account. Until then the registration is not binding and reserves no place. The app shows when the order is paid.

4. The captain adds and changes participants’ names and details in the app free of charge until 30 April 2027; from 1 May to 10 June 2027 each change of a runner’s details costs €10. Before the start every participant signs a runner’s declaration (having read the race rules, no medical contraindications, starting at their own risk); the organiser does not hand out the team pack without the declarations of all team members.

5. A participant must be 18 on the day of the start. A person aged 15 to 17 may take part only with the consent and in the company of a legal representative who is a member of the same team.

6. The captain need not run — they mark this at registration and pay the non-running captain fee listed in the app. The captain declares that the participants have agreed to their details being passed to the organiser and that the captain will give them these terms and the race rules.

§ 5. Entry fees and payment

1. The entry fee per participant is:

   • €95 for an order created by 31 October 2026,
   • €105 for an order created from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027,
   • €115 for an order created from 1 March to 30 April 2027.

   The fee is set by the date the order is created in the app — for the team registration, the date of registration; for participants added later, the date of that order.

2. Prices are in euros and final. The organiser is not a VAT payer. The organiser charges no payment fees.

3. At team registration the captain pays: in MARATHON the entry fees of 12 participants; in FREESTYLE and LADIES FREESTYLE the entry fees of at least 7 participants. Further participants (up to 16 in total) can be added in the app until 30 April 2027.

4. Payment: by bank transfer to the organiser’s account IBAN SK10 7500 0000 0040 2689 0652 (BIC CEKOSKBX) with the order’s variable symbol and the constant symbol 0308, or via the PAY by square QR code or the payme link in the app. Payment is due within 5 days of the order being created; the organiser may cancel an order left unpaid after that.

5. On request we issue a proof of payment — write to [email protected].

6. The entry fee covers what the race rules describe (among others: race numbers, the GPS relay baton, stickers for three vehicles, a participant T-shirt, drinks, timing and the facilities at the mid-stop). It does not cover travel, accommodation or insurance. Extra services (e.g. pasta party, breakfast) are ordered and paid for separately in the app.

§ 6. No right of withdrawal; cancelling a place

1. Entry fees are non-refundable. Under § 19(1)(l) of Slovak Act No. 108/2024 Coll. on Consumer Protection (implementing Article 16(l) of Directive 2011/83/EU), a consumer has no right to withdraw from a distance contract for services related to leisure activities where the contract provides for a specific date of performance. The captain confirms this at registration.

2. Withdrawing a team or a participant after payment gives no right to a refund; neither does a participant not starting. The captain may replace a participant with another person under § 4(4).

3. A team that does not meet the race rules (e.g. the minimum number of participants or the runners’ declarations) will not be allowed to start, with no right to a refund.

§ 7. Changes to or cancellation of the event

1. The organiser may change the course, start times, the registration venue or other organisational details for safety reasons, on the authorities’ decision or because of the weather. Changes are announced at therun.sk and in the app; if the event takes place, they are no reason for a refund.

2. If the event is cancelled, the organiser will announce it at therun.sk and describe there in detail how entry fees are refunded.

§ 8. Complaints

1. Complaints about the website, the app, payments or the organiser’s services can be sent by e-mail to [email protected] or in writing to the registered address. Please give the captain’s name, the team name and a description of the problem.

2. The organiser handles a complaint without undue delay, and within 30 days of receiving it at the latest.

3. Questions about the race and the results are handled by the organiser under the race rules.

4. A consumer may turn to an alternative dispute resolution body under Slovak Act No. 391/2015 Coll. — the Slovak Trade Inspection (soi.sk) or another body on the list kept by the Slovak Ministry of Economy. A consumer living in another EU country may also contact the European Consumer Centre in their country.

§ 9. Liability

1. Participants take part at their own risk, aware of the risks of running in open traffic and at night, and must follow the road traffic rules and the race rules. The organiser is not liable for damage caused by a participant breaking the road traffic rules or the race rules; damage to health, property and belongings is the responsibility of the participant who caused it.

2. The organiser recommends individual accident insurance that covers sport.

3. A participant or team that breaks the race rules or the safety and organisational instructions may be disqualified by the organiser, with no refund of the entry fee or other costs.

4. The organiser is not liable for outages of the website or the app caused by circumstances outside its control (network or provider outages), but makes every effort to fix them promptly.

§ 10. Intellectual property and likeness

1. The THE RUN SLOVAKIA name and logo, the content of the website and the app, the course and the leg descriptions are protected by copyright and industrial property rights. Using them beyond personal use requires the organiser’s consent.

2. A team name must not infringe third-party rights or common decency; the organiser may refuse a name.

3. Photos and audiovisual recordings are made during the event, and the organiser uses them to document and promote the event. The Privacy Policy describes the details and your rights.

§ 11. Final provisions

1. The organiser may change these terms for important reasons (a change in the law, a change of providers, safety reasons). Changes do not worsen the terms of contracts concluded before they take effect. We announce changes on the website and in the app.

2. Contracts are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic, in particular the Civil Code and Act No. 108/2024 Coll. on Consumer Protection; this does not deprive a consumer of the protection given by the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where they habitually live.

3. These terms replace the 2025 Terms and Conditions (VOP). In case of any conflict between language versions, the Slovak version prevails.
