RACE RULES & TEAM HANDBOOK
www.therun.sk · Subject to change · version 1 Sept 2026
Congratulations, captain. You have just (voluntarily) signed up to lead 7 – 16 people across the whole of Slovakia. From Bratislava to Košice. In a single weekend. This handbook walks you step by step through everything you need to sort out so that it becomes the best weekend of the year — and not a logistical nightmare.
THREE RULES THAT OVERRIDE EVERYTHING ELSE
- Safety. You run in full traffic, through two nights, across mountains. No result is worth an injury. Whenever you hesitate between the faster and the safer option, choose the safer one.
- Fun. THE RUN is not about winning, it is about the experience. The goal is for the whole team to reach Košice with a smile and the urge to sign up again next year.
- Performance. Only in third place. The 53h:30m limit corresponds to a relaxed average pace of 6:00 min/km — any well-prepared hobby team can manage it.

BUILD YOUR TEAM — WHO TO BRING AND WHY
When: September – October 2026 (registration opens on 1. 10. 2026 and the entry fee is cheapest until 31. 10.).
HOW MANY PEOPLE, AND WHAT KIND
- Ideal for a first start: 10 – 12 runners. With eight or fewer runners, each person has over 60 km to cover and the logistics get demanding; with 15 – 16 members, on the other hand, the team spends far more time in the car than on the route.
- Reliability > speed. Pick people who turn up for group runs, reply in the group chat and can handle 40 hours in a car without sleep with a smile. Your fastest mate who gets in touch once a month will not help you on the route.
- A mix of abilities is fine. Stages are 5,9 – 16,4 km — there is one for everyone. Slower members can also run at an easier pace — what matters is that the average pace of the whole team is not above 6:00 min/km.
- Minimum age 18; 15 – 17-year-olds may run only with a legal guardian in the same team.
- Back yourself up: have 2 – 3 substitutes "on call". You can change team members free of charge until 30. 4. 2027, then until 10. 6. for a fee of 10 € / change. Have your list of substitutes ready in advance.
CHOOSE A CATEGORY
| CATEGORY | WHO IT IS FOR | WHAT TO BEAR IN MIND |
|---|---|---|
| FREESTYLE 7-16 MIX | 90 % of teams — groups of friends, companies, families | Any distribution of stages = maximum flexibility, even in case of injury |
| LADIES RUN 7-16 W | all-female teams | Same rules as FREESTYLE |
| MARATHON 12 MIX | evenly matched, competitive teams of twelve | Everyone runs every 12th stage (4 stages, approx. 44 km in total) — the running order is fixed, substitutions are limited. For disciplined teams only! |
Official category names: THE RUN FREESTYLE 7-16MIX – FULL · LADIES RUN FREESTYLE 7-16W – FULL · THE RUN MARATHON 12MIX – FULL (stages 1 to 48, 532,97 km).
ASSIGN ROLES RIGHT FROM THE START
- Captain — communicates with the organiser, manages the registration and THE RUN APP, makes the final decisions.
- Logistics manager — cars, refuelling, parking, transfers between handovers.
- Treasurer — budget, collecting money, receipts.
- Cook/supplier — buying food and drink, restocking supplies along the way.
- Team medic — first-aid kit, tape, first aid (ideally someone with a medical background).
- Hype manager — photos, videos, playlist, costumes, the mood at three in the morning.
REGISTRATION, ENTRY FEE, BUDGET, SPONSORS AND CHARITY
REGISTRATION — THE SOONER, THE CHEAPER
- The captain registers at www.therun.sk and creates the team. Registration runs from 1. 10. 2026 (18:00) to 30. 4. 2027 (23:59).
- Entry fee per person: 95 € until 31. 10. 2026 · 105 € until 28. 2. 2027 · 115 € until 30. 4. 2027. For a 12-member team the difference is 240 € — that is the whole weekend's fuel.
- FREESTYLE/LADIES: it is enough to pay for 7 members, you can add the others as you go. MARATHON: you pay for all 12 at once.
- The entry fee for the current edition is non-refundable. The team's registration can, however, be transferred to the following edition for a fee of 75 % of the entry fee price in the following edition. Another reason why it pays to have substitutes.
- Payment exclusively cashless by bank transfer; the registration becomes binding only once the full entry fee has been paid. FREESTYLE/LADIES: first a minimum of 7 members, further members can be added until registration closes. MARATHON: payment for 12 at once. Changes and updates of members are possible until the registration deadline.
INDICATIVE BUDGET (10-MEMBER TEAM)
| ITEM | COMFORT | LOW-COST |
|---|---|---|
| Entry fee (10 × 95 €, until 31. 10.) | 950 € | 950 € |
| Cars (2 × minivan, 3 days) | 500 € | 0 € (own cars) |
| Fuel + motorway tolls (2 cars, ~1 200 km incl. transfers) | 340 € | 340 € |
| Accommodation Thursday BA + Sunday KE | 800 € | 0 € (sleeping in the car and in Teplička) |
| Food, drink, nutrition supplements | 350 € | 250 € |
| Team T-shirts / costumes / flag | 200 € | 80 € |
| Reserve (always!) | 300 € | 150 € |
| Total / per person | ~3 440 € / ~344 € | ~1 770 € / ~177 € |
Amounts are indicative (2026 prices). Collect the money in advance into a team account — nothing kills the mood like chasing debts in July.
SPONSORS — HOW TO GET YOUR WEEKEND PAID FOR
- Company teams: the entry fee and logistics are legitimate team building — ask at work first.
- Local sponsors (gym, restaurant, garage, members' employers): offer a logo on the team T-shirt, on the car (the team's own stickers are allowed alongside the official marking), photos and a thank-you on the team's social media.
- A company or sponsor name in the team name is subject to the organiser's approval — write to us at [email protected]. Terms and entry fees for company teams will be added.
- We handle the terms of cooperation with companies and sponsors individually — get in touch at [email protected] and we will agree on a form that makes sense for you and your partner alike.
DIVIDE UP THE STAGES — FAIRLY AND WISELY
When: January – April 2027 (final submission in the registration by 30. 4. 2027).
THE PROCEDURE IN 5 STEPS
- Find out every member's real pace. Best from a recent 10 km run. Not "I once ran…" — current numbers.
- Rate the stages by difficulty. Not all stages are equal: what counts is length (5,9 – 16,4 km), day/night and profile. The tough parts of the route: the Malé Karpaty (stages 3 – 5), the Čičmany – Fačkov climb (16 – 17), the Tatra block at night (34 – 37) and the long Spiš stages (41, 43, 47).
- Give the night stages to experienced runners. Friday night = roughly stages 14 – 20 (Považie → Teplička), Saturday night = roughly stages 35 – 42 (Tatry → Spiš). A night runner must be confident with navigation and not afraid to run alone with a headlamp.
- Divide up kilometres, not the number of stages. Stronger runners more km, weaker ones fewer — in FREESTYLE this is allowed and normal. Every member must, however, run at least one stage.
- Make a plan B. In case of injury you report the substitute via THE RUN APP — decide in advance who is the "first substitute" for each block of stages. WARNING: an injury reported on stages 47 – 48 = automatic penalty of 1 min per replaced runner (fair play).
STAGE PLAN TEMPLATE (EXAMPLE, 10 RUNNERS)
| RUNNER | PACE (MIN/KM) | STAGES | TOTAL KM | WHEN THEY RUN (APPROX.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peter (strongest) | 4:45 | 7 · 16 · 34 · 43 | ~57 km | Fri afternoon · Fri night · Sat night · Sun morning |
| Zuzana | 5:15 | 3 · 22 · 41 | ~40 km | Fri morning · Sat morning · Sun night |
| … | … | … | … | … |
- Between one runner's stages, ideally leave at least 4 – 6 hours — time for food, the transfer and at least a bit of sleep.
- Check the totals: the whole team must manage an average of 6:00 min/km. If someone runs at 7:00, someone else has to run at 5:00 — or give them shorter stages.
- The organiser will announce the team's exact start time 48 h before the start (wave start 7:45 – 12:15) — then map your plan onto the real times and send it to everyone.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING
When: April – May 2027. This is the chapter that decides whether you enjoy the weekend.
CARS — THE TWO-CREW SYSTEM
- A team may use max. 3 officially marked vehicles; the proven set-up is 2 minivans / minibuses (9-seaters). A camper van is comfortable but hard to park at handovers.
- Golden rule: CAR A / CAR B. Crew A serves the current block of stages (drives runners to the handovers), while crew B gets 40 – 60 km ahead, eats and sleeps. At a major handover they swap. This way everyone sleeps at least 2 × 2 – 3 hours.
- Mandatory equipment in every car: 2× headlamp, 2× flashing light, 2× reflective vest, a phone with internet access, the official team sticker (you get it at team check-in). Add: an extra first-aid kit, power banks, toilet paper, wet wipes, rubbish bags, blankets.
- Park exclusively in the places marked in THE RUN APP, never closer than 50 m to the handover. The car must not accompany the runner (exception: at night, behind the runner, to light the way).
- Refuel whenever the tank is below half. With an electric car: full battery at the start + charging card and chargers along the route checked in advance — we prefer electric cars.
DRIVERS
- The most valuable team member is a non-running driver. If you can get 1 – 2 people who do not run and only drive (partner, friend, parent) — do it. Reward them with a T-shirt, food and eternal glory.
- If runners drive: swap after max. 2 – 3 hours, no driving straight after running a stage and never a driver who has not slept. Better to stop for 15 minutes than to microsleep in Terchová.
SLEEP AND ACCOMMODATION
- Reality: over the weekend everyone gets 3 – 6 hours of sleep, in bits. Plan sleep like stages — who, when, where.
- Thursday (the night before the start): team check-in is in BA 18:00 – 22:00. Teams from outside Bratislava — book accommodation in BA as early as possible, the city is full in June. Get a proper night's sleep, it is the last full night.
- Friday night: in the cars + crew system. A sleeping mat and sleeping bag for everyone (even in June it is 5 – 10 °C before dawn).
- Saturday, Teplička nad Váhom (3:15 – 13:15): the intermediate stop has rest zones, a quiet zone in the gym, showers and food. Whoever finishes part one has their only real chance of 3 – 4 hours of sleep here — use it, part two (300 km) is longer.
- Sunday after the finish: teams come from all over Slovakia and from abroad — if home is a long way from Košice, we strongly recommend a hotel in Košice for Sunday night: celebrate at the finish and travel back the next day rested. Do not get behind the wheel after 50 hours without sleep.
PARKING — OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS
BRATISLAVA — START
- The organiser provides designated parking areas for officially marked participants' cars, marked in the THE RUN APP application.
- In the centre of Bratislava, around Hviezdoslavovo námestie, there are several parking areas. We recommend: the parking area on Krasovského street — approx. 1 500 m on foot · the car park on Tyršovo nábrežie — approx. 1 000 m on foot · the parking garage of the Park Inn by Radisson Danube Bratislava hotel (Rybné námestie 1) · the Vydrica underground garage — approx. 500 m on foot
- As the race start is located in a pedestrian zone, parking cars directly at the start is not possible.

TEPLIČKA NAD VÁHOM — INTERMEDIATE STOP
- The organiser provides designated parking areas, marked in the THE RUN APP application. Only officially marked vehicles may park at the handover.
- Around the sports complex we recommend the areas along Školská street and the adjacent streets.
- The intermediate stop is located in an enclosed sports complex — parking cars directly at the intermediate stop is not possible.
KOŠICE — FINISH
- The organiser does not provide designated parking areas. In the city centre, around Hlavná ulica, there are several parking areas — Aupark Košice, the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel car park, and the streets Mäsiarska, Hradbová and Mlynská.
- The exact parking locations in Košice will be specified later.
AT THE HANDOVERS
- Reserved areas for officially marked cars are marked in the THE RUN APP application in the maps of the individual stages.
- Only officially marked vehicles may park at the handover.
FOOD AND HYDRATION
BASIC PRINCIPLES
- Eat normal food while you can. Gels and bars are for the stage, not for the whole weekend. The basics: bread rolls, bananas, rice, pasta, soup, salty snacks.
- Before a stage: a light meal 2 – 3 h beforehand (nothing fried, nothing new). 30 min before the start, at most a banana or a bar.
- During a stage: stages are up to 16,4 km — for most people water/isotonic drink is enough; take a gel on stages over 12 km or in the heat.
- After a stage (within 30 min): carbohydrates + protein (milk/cocoa, yoghurt, a bar, a sandwich) — recovery is the most important "meal" of the weekend, after all, you are going to run again.
- Hydration: steadily throughout the day, in the heat add minerals/electrolytes. Check: if you have not been to the toilet for 5 hours, you have got it wrong.
- Caffeine strategically: not "coffee all the time", but deliberately before a night stage or night driving. After midnight a caffeine gel helps too.
- Alcohol only at the finish. Excessive drinking during the event is prohibited by the race rules — and it dehydrates you. Beer in Košice tastes ten times better.
SHOPPING LIST FOR THE CAR (FOR 5 PEOPLE)
- 6 l of water per person + electrolytes/minerals · thermos flasks with tea for the night
- Bananas (lots), apples, dried fruit, nuts
- Bread rolls, tortillas, ham, cheese, peanut butter, honey
- Salty: pretzels, crisps, salted sticks (after a night stage the body craves salt)
- Gels/bars: 2 – 3 per runner for the whole weekend is enough
- Instant soups + a travel kettle for the car / thermos flask
- Caffeine: coffee, cola, caffeine gels for the night
- Recovery: milk drinks, yoghurts (cooler bag!)
- Magnesium, salt tablets; each member's personal medication
SHOES AND CLOTHING — DAY, NIGHT, TERRAIN
SHOES
- The basics: well-worn road shoes. Most of the route runs on asphalt, cycle paths and paved roads. No new trainers bought in May!
- Bring a second pair — after rain or a sweaty stage, a dry shoe is a luxury. If you run the forest/field sections (e.g. around Veľké Borové or the sections below the Tatras), a light trail shoe or a road shoe with a sturdier sole comes in handy.
- Tried-and-tested socks (2 – 3 pairs), Vaseline/anti-blister balm on critical spots, blister plasters in the car.
CLOTHING — JUNE HAS TWO FACES
| WHEN/WHERE | CONDITIONS | WHAT TO WEAR |
|---|---|---|
| Day, south (Fri) | usually 25 – 32 °C, sun, little shade | light, pale clothing, cap, sunglasses, sunscreen (you burn even through a T-shirt) |
| Night, Považie/Strážovské vrchy | 8 – 14 °C, fog | long sleeves/gilet, thin gloves as a back-up, headband |
| Night, Tatry/Spiš (Sat) | easily 3 – 8 °C, wind, possible rain | layers: technical T-shirt + long sleeves + light windbreaker/waterproof, hat, gloves |
| In the car | air-con/draught | warm hoodie, tracksuit bottoms, dry change of clothes after EVERY stage, flip-flops/slippers |
- Count on 3 complete running kits per person + one warm “car outfit”. Wet things go in a separate bag (a plastic bag = the cheapest piece of kit that saves the atmosphere in the car).
MANDATORY RUNNER'S EQUIPMENT AT NIGHT AND IN POOR VISIBILITY
- A working mobile phone (charged!)
- Reflective vest
- Headlamp — we recommend min. 200 lm + spare batteries/a second headlamp in the car
- Flashing light
- At least one more reflective element (wristband, belt, headband)
This is mandatory under the race rules — it is checked, and missing equipment = a 30 min penalty. But above all: you have to be visible on the road at night. The vest is not a formality.
RULES ON THE ROUTE
This is the binding part — the rules of the event from start to finish. Read it out loud to the whole team.
THE RUN APP
INSTALLATION
- Download the app to your smartphone from the APP STORE or GOOGLE PLAY.
- Download links: App Store · Google Play
WHAT WE USE THE APP FOR
- monitoring the current position of the active runner (live position tracking based on the signal from the GPS transmitters)
- following the live results of the individual teams
- communication with the organising team — the app is the main communication channel between the organiser, the captains and the registered team members
- reporting a runner's injury · reporting a runner substitution · and many other functions
- Using the THE RUN APP application on a smartphone is mandatory for every team captain throughout the race; we recommend it to the other team members.
- More information about the other functions can be found in the user guide inside the app itself, which you can download to your smartphone from GOOGLE PLAY or the APP STORE.
START AND BIB NUMBERS — RULES
REGISTRATION BEFORE THE START
- The starting runner is obliged to report to the race start in Bratislava at least 30 minutes before the start.
- The starting runner collects the relay baton — a GPS transmitter, handed over by a member of the organising team at the event start.
- The starting runner fastens the GPS transmitter around the waist so that it is not covered by anything.
- A member of the organising team checks that the GPS transmitter works and is positioned correctly, and that the runner's bib number matches the bib number on the wristband.
BIB NUMBER
- Every member of the running team must be marked with a bib number and must wear on their wrist the wristband belonging to their bib number.
- While running, the team member must wear the bib number in a visible place at the waist.
- A member of the organising team may at any time ask a runner to show their bib number and wristband in order to verify their identity.
RELAY
- Relay baton = GPS transmitter. The runner must wear it at the waist for the whole duration of the stage.
GENERAL RULES
- THE RUN SLOVAKIA is a team relay run.
- The age limit for participants is 18 years and over. Runners aged 15 – 17 may take part only when accompanied by a legal guardian who must be a member of the same team.
- Each team member runs on their own and exclusively the stages that the team captain submitted in the registration, depending on the category.
REGISTRATION AT THE HANDOVER
- When the runner arrives, the GPS transmitter automatically sends the current arrival time to the handover point.
- Every runner, after arriving and before setting off, is obliged to show their bib number and wristband to the member of the organising team present.
- What is checked: bib number fastened at the front on the chest · wristband on the wrist · first name and surname.
During the race, the team captain may report a change of runner on an assigned stage only in the following cases:
- in the event of a runner's injury (applies to all categories),
- due to a swap of runners within the team (does not apply to the MARATHON category).
RUNNER'S INJURY
- The team captain must immediately report via the THE RUN APP application the first name, surname and bib number of the injured runner and the first name and surname of the runner replacing them. The function appears in the app during the race.
- An injured runner may be replaced by: MARATHON — a team member who is not running two directly consecutive stages · FREESTYLE / LADIES RUN — any team member.
- An injured runner may no longer continue in the race! The app's functionality respects this rule.
SWAP OF RUNNERS WITHIN THE TEAM
- Possible only in the FREESTYLE and LADIES RUN categories.
- The swap is made exclusively by the team captain — who immediately reports via the THE RUN APP application the first name, surname and bib number of both the runner and the substitute, at the latest before the runner sets off from the handover.
- If the captain reports the change only after the runner has set off from the handover, or does not report it at all, the organiser will automatically treat the original runner as injured — and that runner's race is over.
- When swapping, the rule that every team member runs at least one stage during the race must be observed. The app's functionality respects this rule.
- The direction of the route is marked only in sections that are difficult to navigate. Every runner is obliged to study the route thoroughly — correct navigation is one of the main conditions of the race and every team is responsible for it.
- If a runner gets lost and leaves the designated route, they must return to the point where they left it and continue from there along the designated route.
- The organiser is not responsible for unforeseen delays on the route (red traffic light, closed railway crossing, police check, fallen tree, etc.).
HOW THE ROUTE IS MARKED

| ELEMENT | PLACEMENT | FREQUENCY |
|---|---|---|
| Direction arrow and line bright orange / yellow | arrow on the left verge and on paved surfaces; line in the middle of the lane | every approx. 500 – 1 000 m · at every turn · 2× before the turn (50 m and 20 m) · 2× after the turn (20 m and 50 m) |
| THE RUN logo bright orange / yellow | roads and paved surfaces | 2× per stage + at the relay handover point |
| Ribbon day: white with orange logo · night: reflective strips + chemical light | field and forest tracks (trees, bushes) | every approx. 200 – 500 m |
| Direction sign white / orange | beside the road, pavement, field or forest track | at important turns (e.g. Y-shaped junctions) — approx. 10 m before the turn or directly at it |
RELAY HANDOVER — STAFFING
2× volunteer (provided by the regional partner — the village / town). The volunteer's tasks:
- guarding the relay handover · organising parking in the vicinity (cars must not block the runner's route 50 m before and 50 m after the handover)
- contact person for the organiser · providing information about the village/town to runners and spectators
- serving refreshments to runners (e.g. hot tea, goulash — not mandatory) · spreading good cheer
TRAVEL BY MOTOR VEHICLE
- Team vehicles must be properly marked in a visible place (sticker on the front bonnet) and park exclusively in the places marked in the THE RUN APP application, no closer than 50 m to the handover.
- Vehicles travel between handovers in accordance with the applicable road traffic rules. Some sections are not accessible to motor vehicles — a team will be penalised for breaching a no-entry restriction.
- A team's motor vehicle must not accompany the runner (with the exception of night stages).
NIGHT SECTIONS AND HANDOVERS
- Mandatory runner's equipment at night: a working mobile phone · reflective vest · headlamp · flashing light · at least one more reflective element.
- During day stages it is strictly forbidden to accompany the runner by bicycle, scooter, car or any other means of transport.
- Accompanying the runner by bicycle or vehicle is allowed only at night, exclusively behind the runner, in order to light the route — the runner runs on the right-hand side of the road, the cyclist or car follows behind. It is strictly forbidden to accompany the runner in front, alongside or in parallel on the other side of the road.
- Mandatory observance of night-time quiet hours from 22:00 to 6:00, with the exception of handovers with a programme organised by the local municipality. A team faces a penalty for breaching these measures.
SAFETY ABOVE ALL
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF A SAFE TEAM
- Every active runner carries a working, charged phone — no exceptions, even during the day.
- At night, the complete mandatory equipment (ch. 06) + run on lit sections wherever possible.
- Accompanying the runner by vehicle/bicycle is allowed only at night and only behind the runner (to light the way) — runner on the right, escort behind. Never alongside or on the opposite side.
- During the day any kind of escort is forbidden — the runner is alone on the stage. Hence navigation: study your route, follow the markings (orange arrows, ribbons, signs). If you leave the route, go back to the point where you left it.
- We do not recommend headphones — it is each runner's own responsibility, but on the road you have to hear the cars. And honestly: enjoy the sounds of nature, be present. :)
- Pain that changes your running form = end of the stage. Call the captain — only the team captain reports an injury via THE RUN APP. A teammate will replace you; an injured runner may not continue, but a healthy one crosses the finish line with the team.
- A driver who has not slept does not drive. Full stop.
- Night-time quiet 22:00 – 6:00 at handovers in villages — noise = a penalty and an angry village.
- Watch the weather: a thunderstorm in the Tatras is no reason for heroics. The organiser communicates emergencies via THE RUN APP — keep notifications switched on.
- Extreme heat during the day: slow down, douse yourself with water, take more minerals. The 6:00 min/km limit gives you a margin — use it.

- In the afternoon, the Malé Karpaty and the heat — douse the runners, top up water. At night, Považie: the first night stages, double the attention.

SATURDAY 12. 6. — INTERMEDIATE STOP AND THE SECOND HALF
- Arrival in Teplička nad Váhom (end of stage 20) between 3:15 – 13:15. Zones: rest · refreshments (canteen, food truck, snack bar) · hygiene (showers, toilets) · tent area · quiet zone in the gym — SLEEP. Parking according to THE RUN APP.
- At 8:45 the organiser announces the restart times; stage 21 starts 9:45 – 13:15 (slowest teams go first). Runner of stage 21: 30 min in advance, the QR code on the bib is scanned.
- In the afternoon Terchová and Orava, in the evening Liptov, at night the Tatras — the most beautiful and the coldest part of the route. Layers, headlamps, hot tea.

SUNDAY 13. 6. — FINISH (KOŠICE, HLAVNÁ, 12:00 – 18:00)
- Morning in Spiš — Levoča and Spišský hrad ahead of you at sunrise — and the Hornád valley. Last handover: Družstevná pri Hornáde.
- Finish logistics: drive from Družstevná to KE ~20 min + walk from the car park to Hlavná. Set off as soon as the last runner has left — the whole team waits at the marked spot 200 m before the finish and crosses the line TOGETHER.
- Results ceremony at around 15:00 (top three teams in each category). Any complaint is filed by the captain via the app by 15:30.
- Then: a photo with the medals under the Immaculata, celebration, hotel. At the finish you will understand.

FINAL TIME
- The official final time is the team's net cumulative time measured from the start of stage no. 1 to the finish of stage no. 20 (from Bratislava to Teplička nad Váhom) and from the start of stage no. 21 to the finish of stage no. 48 (from Teplička nad Váhom to Košice).
- The interim times of the individual stages are indicative and will be published in the THE RUN APP application.
TIME LIMIT
| COURSE | TIME LIMIT (NET TIME) |
|---|---|
| THE RUN SLOVAKIA — FULL · 48 stages · 532,97 km | 53h:30m |
| Part 1 · stages 1 – 20 · 232,75 km | 23h:20m |
| Part 2 · stages 21 – 48 · 300,21 km | 30h:10m |
The time limits correspond to an average pace of 6:00 min/km over the whole route.
- Once the time limit has expired, the organiser will gradually close the route. Teams that miss the limit will be disqualified and may complete the run outside the official race.
- Teams running faster than they stated in the registration may be temporarily stopped by the organiser for a period at the organiser's discretion.
BREACHES OF THE RULES, PENALTIES AND COMPLAINTS
COMPLAINTS
- In the event of a breach of the rules, a complaint may be filed — at any time during the race, at the latest by 15:30 on Sunday 13. 6. 2027.
- A complaint may be filed only by the team captain via the THE RUN APP application or by e-mail to [email protected].
- The organiser will announce its official position via the THE RUN APP application by 16:30, or later depending on the nature of the complaint.
PENALTY LEVELS
| LEVEL | PENALTY |
|---|---|
| Level 1 / warning by the organiser | +30 min |
| Level 2 / warning by the organiser | +60 min |
| Level 3 / warning by the organiser | DISQUALIFICATION |
- The organiser reserves the right to impose a penalty on a team in the event of a breach of the rules set out in the race rules; the size of the penalty is determined according to the seriousness of the breach.
- Participants are prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages to excess and from using other intoxicating substances for the duration of the event.
- The organiser informs the team concerned of the decision to impose a penalty via the THE RUN APP application, by phone or in person.
FUN, TEAM SPIRIT AND MEMORIES
- Team identity: name, T-shirts, flag, maybe a costume accessory (headbands, socks…). Teams with an identity demonstrably have more photos and more fun.
- Rituals: a team chant at every handover, a bell for cheering, a team song that plays at every arrival. It sounds crazy — at 4:00 in the morning it holds the team together.
- Cheer on other teams' runners. The best THE RUN atmosphere is created between teams — wave, honk (during the day!), hand over some water. Next year someone will return the favour.
- Document it: one person = photo/video manager, a shared album, tag #therunslovakia — we will happily share the best moments.
- Running for charity? Give the story room: a sign on the car "We run for…", a post before the start, a thank-you from the finish. And write to us — we will help spread it (ch. 02).
- Zero waste: the team collects all its rubbish in its own bag and takes it along — to be thrown away at home. We leave nothing at the handovers or on the route.
- After the race: a team dinner in Košice and, within two weeks, a "ceremony" — sharing photos + signing up for THE RUN SLOVAKIA 2028. Because you will sign up, trust us.
